Try HoldMyPlace yourself This is a real preloaded tapestry crochet project. HoldMyPlace is free and works with pre-made patterns you already have.

Your pre-made crochet pattern, made trackable.

You bought a beautiful tapestry crochet pattern, or found one on Pinterest - maybe a graphghan, maybe a colourwork chart from your favourite designer. It didn’t come with tidy row-by-row instructions. It’s just a picture - a grid of coloured squares you have to read, one stitch at a time.

You put your hook down for a snack. You come back and… which row were you on? Which square? Was that navy or black? Sticky notes fall off. Highlighter tape doesn’t work on a printout you keep re-printing. A row counter only knows which row you’re on - not which of the sixty stitches in it.

And then there’s the colour counting. Twenty stitches of one colour, then forty of the next, then back again - keeping count in your head, or losing track halfway through and starting over. That’s not crochet, that’s arithmetic.

So you re-count. Again. And it’s the re-counting, not the crochet, that makes you put the project down for good.

From your chart to a tracker that actually keeps up with you

Upload your pattern

The chart or photo pattern you already have — bought, found on Pinterest, or your own printout.

We find your rows and stitches

Detection is mostly automatic — but not perfect. If a line or two needs a nudge, adjusting it takes seconds.

Your place is highlighted for you

Your current row lights up directly on the image, with everything already worked dimmed — or fully blacked out, your choice.

See colour groups at a glance

No more counting “twenty of this, forty of that” in your head — each colour block is highlighted together, so you always know how much is left.

Move through your work

Click or use the arrow keys to move through rows and colour groups as you crochet.

Track C2C projects too

Choose C2C when you create a project and follow your chart in the diagonal order you actually crochet it — without mentally converting a row-by-row grid.

Smart pace & row protection

HoldMyPlace calculates your working pace as you crochet and adds smart safeguards around row changes, helping prevent an accidental tap from moving you to the wrong row before you’re ready.

Fix your grid

Found a pattern made for cross stitch or beading? Fix broken connections, correct individual squares, or see how your pattern looks with a different colour palette.

Get a written pattern, automatically

Turn a picture-only chart into row-by-row written instructions, generated straight from your image.
