Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026

HoldMyPlace is an independently developed web-based tool designed to help crocheters keep track of their progress while working on tapestry crochet projects.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use HoldMyPlace, where that information is stored, and how information about use of the website may be collected.

1. Your crochet project data

HoldMyPlace allows you to create and manage crochet projects. Depending on the features you use, this may include information such as:

At present, this project information is stored locally in your web browser on your device.

HoldMyPlace does not currently require you to create an account, and your crochet project data is not intentionally uploaded to or stored in a HoldMyPlace user database.

Because your project information is stored locally, it may not be available if you use another browser or device. Clearing your browser data, removing website storage, resetting your browser or losing access to your device may also result in the loss of your project information.

You are responsible for keeping copies of any patterns or photographs that you do not want to lose.

2. Website analytics

HoldMyPlace uses analytics services to understand how people use the website and to help identify problems and improve the service.

Google Analytics

HoldMyPlace uses Google Analytics, provided by Google.

Google Analytics may collect information about your use of the website, such as:

This information helps us understand how HoldMyPlace is being used and how the website can be improved.

HoldMyPlace does not use Google Analytics with the intention of personally identifying individual visitors.

Google processes information collected through Google Analytics in accordance with its own terms and privacy practices.

Google Analytics only runs after you have given consent through the cookie banner shown when you first visit HoldMyPlace. You can change this choice at any time by clearing your browser's stored data for this site.

3. Cloudflare Web Analytics

HoldMyPlace also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand website traffic and performance.

This may provide information such as:

Cloudflare Web Analytics is designed to provide website analytics without tracking individual users across different websites.

4. Local storage, cookies and similar technologies

HoldMyPlace uses browser storage to save your crochet projects and progress on your device.

This allows HoldMyPlace to remember your projects when you leave the website and return later.

Deleting HoldMyPlace's stored website data through your browser may delete this information.

Third-party services used by the website, including Google Analytics, may also use cookies or similar technologies to provide analytics functionality.

Where consent is required by applicable law, analytics technologies requiring consent are only enabled after you accept the cookie banner shown when you first visit HoldMyPlace.

You can also control or delete cookies and locally stored website information through your browser settings.

5. How information is used

Information handled or collected through HoldMyPlace may be used to:

HoldMyPlace does not sell your personal information.

6. Uploaded patterns and photographs

Patterns, charts, images and photographs that you add to HoldMyPlace remain your responsibility.

At present, patterns and photographs added to your projects are stored locally in your browser rather than intentionally being uploaded to a HoldMyPlace server.

You should only use patterns, images and other content that you have the right or permission to use.

Using a pattern within HoldMyPlace does not transfer ownership of that pattern to HoldMyPlace.

7. Third-party services

HoldMyPlace currently relies on third-party services to operate and understand use of the website.

These include:

Netlify — used to host and deliver the HoldMyPlace website.

Google Analytics — used to understand website usage and visitor behaviour.

Cloudflare Web Analytics — used to understand website traffic and performance.

These providers may process certain technical or analytics information when you use HoldMyPlace. Their handling of information is also subject to their respective privacy policies.

8. Data retention

Crochet project information stored locally in your browser generally remains there until you delete it, your browser removes it, or you clear the website's stored data.

HoldMyPlace does not currently maintain a central user account containing your crochet projects.

Information collected by third-party analytics providers may be retained according to the settings and retention practices of those providers.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to personal information about you. These can include rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and rights to object to or restrict certain types of processing.

Where processing is based on your consent, you may also have the right to withdraw that consent.

Because your crochet project information is currently stored locally on your device rather than in a HoldMyPlace user account, HoldMyPlace may not possess or have access to that information.

10. Children's privacy

HoldMyPlace does not currently require users to provide their age or create a user account.

HoldMyPlace does not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children.

If it becomes apparent that personal information relating to a child has been collected in circumstances where it should not have been, appropriate steps will be taken to address the situation.

11. Security

Reasonable care is taken when developing and operating HoldMyPlace.

However, no website, browser storage system or internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Because project information is stored locally on your device, the security of that information also depends on the security of your device and browser.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

HoldMyPlace is still being developed and its features may change over time.

This Privacy Policy may therefore be updated as new features are introduced, different services are used, or the way information is handled changes.

When the policy is updated, the Last updated date at the top of this page will also be changed.
